I have been a Speech Pathologist for 19 years and am a Certified Practicing Member of Speech Pathology Australia. I also hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in the United States.  Educationally, I hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Macquarie University in Sydney and a Masters degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Texas.

I am fortunate to have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including residential neuropsychology, inpatient rehabilitation, nursing homes, schools, private practice, and home health and to have had experience with numerous populations, from infants to the elderly.

During my career, I have enjoyed supporting patients and families with a wide range of clinical needs including developmental language delay, articulation difficulties, social or pragmatic language impairment, delays in literacy development, difficulties with fluency (stuttering), Autism, and sensory and/or behavioural difficulties.  I have a particular interest in late talking toddlers, and in literacy development in primary-school aged children, and I love equipping families to be their children’s best therapists.

My practice is driven by my values regarding therapy:

  • I believe that great therapy should be both enjoyable and productive; the child and the child’s family should see results AND enjoy the process.

  • I believe that parents, when equipped and supported, are their child’s best teachers.

  • I believe that every child is unique and should be evaluated, assisted, and supported according to his/her individual strengths.

Finally, in addition to my professional experience, I also have extensive “hands on” experience with children, parenting my own 5 boys!  I love watching language unfold in young children and am passionate about equipping parents to optimise language learning and academic readiness in their little ones.
